My Story

Helloooooo, I’m Karey Roe! Thank you for finding your way here! I am a portrait photographer that specializing in families, children and high school seniors on beautiful Bainbridge Island.

My very first studio opened in Dallas, Texas, following my 2002 graduation from Brooks Institute of Photography in Santa Barbara, California, and I have been clicking away ever since. Over the years, I’ve done all sorts of things in the field . . .  tech’d for amazingly talented automotive and food photographers, worked behind the scenes of Hollywood with Digital Fusion, and held staff photographer positions at Kawasaki and Jessica Alba’s The Honest Company, tagged along to haunts and movie sets with my husband, and collaborated on a few movie posters. Others projects that come to mind are working with real estate teams, company headshots, school portraits, sports teams, artists, a wedding or two, even photos with a mall Santa once! Clients I’ve had the privilege of working with include Pilates Methodology, Lisa Hoffman Jewelry, Brio Nutrition, and book covers of The Pie Life and Doctor on Demand. Most recently Little Biscuits has kept me busy with their sweet baby clothes!

Growing up in Texas, I took hundreds of photos a day before it was the norm with devices in our pockets! And before we were all speeding though 7 images a second on Instagram, I was drawn to imagery. Magazines make me happy! Movie poster poster, book covers! The only thing that got me through Los Angeles traffic was endless billboards! But I don’t miss those! And how exciting the possibility of a Christmas card in my mailbox is! I simply love to create and love to experience and share creativity.

My family is my favorite subject! My son and daughter are both full of light and energy and brighten my world to no end. As a filmmaker, my husband is extremely creative and often behind the camera as well. He always makes sure there are never many dull moments in life and I feel beyond blessed to be on this journey with him. Outside of running around doing what my kids are into at the moment, I’m an aspiring cookie decorator and a wanna-be flower farmer. If I have “me time”, I’m either at the pottery studio or teaching up at the archery range!

With such an amazing community and surroundings, it fills with me with gratitude and humbles me to be in the rankings of The Best of Bainbridge for each year I’ve lived on the island. I aim to put images on your walls that you will adore and cherish, images that will be around beyond my years. Newborn babies I’ve photographed have now had their senior session, and I’ve photographed babies of my seniors! It has been so completely rewarding and I hope to continue to meet and share my work with new and familiar families.
